RIPE LIR

I'm a registered RIPE NCC Local Internet Registry under il.fedorov. In practice this means I can sponsor ASNs, allocate IP space, and help people navigate the wonderful world of RIPE bureaucracy — so they don't have to become an LIR themselves just to announce a /48 from their homelab.

I mostly help individuals, homelabs, research projects, and small networks that need their own Internet number resources. If you're a large enterprise with a procurement department and a compliance team, you probably want a bigger LIR. If you're a person who wants to run BGP from a closet — we'll get along.

I even have a RIPE NCC certificate from their training courses. It looks very official and I'm sure it impresses someone.

Services

ASN Sponsoring
Your own Autonomous System Number, registered in the RIPE database under your name or organization. I act as the sponsoring LIR — you remain the legal holder and can transfer to another LIR whenever you want, no hard feelings. I'll help with aut-num, as-set, routing policy objects, IRR registration, RPKI setup, and PeeringDB entry. Basically everything between "I want an ASN" and "holy shit, I see my prefix on bgp.tools."
IPv6 Allocation
Provider-independent /48 (or larger) IPv6 prefix from the RIPE pool, registered directly to you. Announce it from any provider, IX, VPS with BGP support, or a Raspberry Pi under your desk — it's your space. Comes with proper RIPE database objects, ROA for RPKI validation, and reverse DNS delegation. Because life is too short for NAT66.
IPv4 Leasing
IPv4 prefixes from my allocations, available for lease. Clean address space with no blocklist history, LOA provided for upstream announcements, RPKI ROA records maintained on your behalf. Minimum /24, because that's the smallest thing the global table will accept and I don't make the rules. Not cheap — blame the IPv4 exhaustion, not me — but straightforward and honest.
Transfer Assistance
Need to move resources between LIRs? Changing your sponsoring LIR? Acquired some address space and need it transferred properly? I can help with RIPE inter-LIR and intra-RIR transfers, including all the paperwork, database updates, and the inevitable back-and-forth emails with RIPE NCC staff. I've been through the process enough times to know which forms they actually read.

Onboarding

If you're new to all this — that's completely fine, everyone starts somewhere. I started by accidentally breaking my own routing table, so the bar is low. I'll walk you through the RIPE database, explain what IRR actually does, help you set up your first peering sessions, and make sure your network doesn't look like it was configured by someone having a bad day.

No question is too basic. Yes, including "what is BGP."

Good to Know

Who owns the resources?
You do. Sponsored ASNs and PI space are registered to your name or organization. I'm just the sponsoring LIR.
How long does assignment take?
ASNs typically 2–5 business days. IPv6 is similar. IPv4 depends on availability and how much coffee the RIPE registration services team had that morning.
Do I need to be in the RIPE region?
For ASN sponsoring and PI assignments — yes. For IPv4 leasing, more flexible.
Can I announce from any provider?
Yes. Your ASN and PI space are provider-independent. Announce wherever you have a BGP session.
Abuse policy
Don't use resources for spam, abuse, or anything that would make me regret sponsoring you. Keep your network clean and answer your abuse reports.
Transit?
This page is about LIR services. For IP transit and peering, see the main AS26954 page.
