Guestbook

The web had guestbooks before it had comments, likes, or feeds. You left a few words, the webmaster read them, and they stayed on the page for years. This one works the same way. Your entry lands on my phone first and shows up below once I’ve read it, usually within the day.

Email is optional and never shown; it only picks your Gravatar. Links get rel="nofollow", so there’s no SEO to be had here. Entries can’t be edited afterwards, which is also how it used to work.

Testing. If you can read this, the D1 write worked, the Telegram message arrived, I pressed the right button, and the edge cache eventually let go of its stale copy. Four small miracles for one paragraph. The web used to be like this all the time.

Webmaster's privilege to go first. The form is right above you, it works without JavaScript, and I read every entry on my phone before it shows up here. Be nice, or at least be interesting. Ideally both.

A guestbook without a hit counter is only half the ritual. The other half lives at 88x31.lol, where you can get a retro counter badge for your own page.
